Special Services:
In an effort to solve some common resin transfer
problems, Pricefitters offers the following treatments to our tubing and
bend items: shot peening, spiral grooving, and porcelain lining. Both
shot peening and spiral grooving have, in many cases, reduced line
blockage by fines, angel hair, and/or streamers. Porcelain lining has
been used to decrease wear problems from the transfer of abrasive
material. Please call Pricefitters at 1-888-210-8695 for more
information and pricing. |

Shot peening produces a dimpled surface inside the tube and/or bend. Resin
pellets moved through the tube hit the raised points and bounce off as
the rough surface doesn’t allow a build up of smeared resin. As a
result, the amount of angel hair or streamers within the line is reduced
due to the lack of smearing.

In this treatment, a groove is machined or formed along the inside surface of
the tube and/or bend. This spiraled groove creates turbulence in the
airflow that minimizes the pellets’ contact with the tube wall. With
less pellet contact, less smearing of the pellet occurs to reduce the
amount of angel hair or streamers within the line.

A porcelain lining is baked onto the interior surface of the tube or bend,
providing increased wear resistance when conveying abrasive materials.
Porcelain has a 7 rating on the Moh’s hardness scale and is particularly
well suited for use in systems transporting glass filled nylon as well
as other abrasive components.
